Housing Assistance
Our Housing Assistance program connects individuals with safe, inclusive, and affordable housing options, as well as emergency shelter resources. We work with trusted partners to ensure access to services without stigma or discrimination, helping sex workers find stability and security in their living situations.
Our Story: Color in the Shadows
In the heart of San Francisco, a city known for its progressive spirit but also its deep inequities, sex workers began to find their voices in a new way—through the advocacy and activism of Candace “CeeCee” Collins, an artist turned community organizer whose work goes beyond the canvas.CeeCee didn’t set out to be a community organizer. She started as a painter, driven by a deep need to honor the lives of sex workers, whose stories had too often been erased or ignored. Her impressionist porntraits, painted in warm, defiant colors, began as a personal tribute to friends, lovers, and clients she had met in her own past life in the trade. But as she connected with others in her community, CeeCee realized that her art had the power to do more than reflect—it could spark change. When CeeCee saw how the systemic challenges facing sex workers in San Francisco were compounded by a lack of accessible healthcare, legal resources, and housing, she couldn’t stand by. She began gathering people who shared her passion for justice and built The Safe Work Coalition, a grassroots network dedicated to advocating for the rights, safety, and dignity of sex workers. From community meetings and mutual aid events to collaborations with local healthcare providers, lawyers, and housing advocates, CeeCee focuses on building systems that support and empower those in the sex trade. The Coalition’s mission is clear: decriminalization, harm reduction, and creating a society where sex workers are treated with respect and autonomy.
